Search Engine
Marketing... and
How Businesses can
find the Money to pay
for it
by Dennis Ventura
Many small and
medium sized
organizations are
currently still debating
the search engine
marketing and internet
advertising question.
Does it pay to market on
the internet? At the core
of the discussion is the
cost of this endeavor.
Sure there are
inexpensive alternatives
to search engine
marketing or even
search engine
optimization. Why just
the other day a friend of
mine sent me an
example of search
engine optimization for
just $49.99. These offers
can be inexpensive but
the effectiveness is a
little grey. Since cost
seems to be the main
focus let me explain how
businesses can find
funds to feed this
marketing effort.
If you currently have a
website for your
business and are
looking to test some
search engine
marketing, a perfect way
to minimize the cost is to
enroll into Google’s
Adsense program. This
program allows you to
“earn money" from
relevant ads on your
website. Google
AdSense matches ads
to your site’s content,
and you earn money
whenever your visitors
click on them.” Current
inter net marketing
statistics show that 2% -
25% of visitors to your
website will possibly call
or take some business
generating action when
visiting your website.
This leaves a 98% - 75%
website traffic surplus.
These are visitors who
will just land on your site
and leave. These are the
visitors business
owners can monetize. By
placing Google adsense
on a website business
owner’s can expect an
additional 2% - 50% of
those bouncing visitors
to potentially click on an
adsense ad to find what
they are searching for in
the first place. This
program leaves added
value for all involved,
website visitors get
closers to fulfilling their
search needs and
business owners can
have additional
revenues to fund search
engine marketing and
search engine
optimization efforts.
