The Museum Store Company -
TheArtifact was founded in 1997, and
is operated by Arden (Arden
Technologies, Inc., est. 1994). Since
that time we have become one of the
largest collections of museum and
art reproductions anywhere. Since
1997, we've sold thousands of
reproductions to individuals,
institutions, and companies
worldwide. As a result we have
received some nice inclusions,
awards, and very kind words from our
customers:
* In Spring of 1999, we were
featured on ABC.COM in 1999 as a
part of the production of Cleopatra
starring Timothy Dalton (aka. James
Bond).
* In Fall of 1999, Goto.com (now
Overture) showcased TheArtifact as a
select and unique destination for
their Shopping Safari promotion.
* In the April 2000, we were
featured in the cover article of
Germany's Geo Magazine
* In the January 2000 issue of
Presence Magazine we were
recognized in their "Best of the Web
2000" article.
* In 2002, we supplied the
Students Exhibition for Studium
Biblicum in Hong Kong. In 2003 we
continue to provide our reproductions
to schools across the United States
from Pennsylvania, Wisconsin,
Texas, New York, Nevada to
California. Schools please call for
special academic programs.
* In January of 1999 and
September of 2002, we sold items to
the Boston of Museum of Science for
use in exhibits and as teaching tools.
* In the Fall of 2002, we provided a
number of items to Universal Studios
Japan for their Mummy II exhibit!
* And we've been recognized by
number customers since our
inception.
Journey to the Stage presents
Free Musical Performances by 2007 BRIO Winners on March 9th
(Bronx – February 28, 2008) The Bronx Council on the Arts
(BCA) and the Bronx Library Center presents Journey to the
Stage – A free afternoon offering a panel discussion and
musical performances by three 2007 BRIO award-winning
performers who offer stories and insights about their career
paths and present a concert of culturally diverse music.
Journey to the Stage will take place on Sunday, March 9th,
from 3:00-5:00pm, at the Bronx Library Center at 310 East
Kingsbridge Road (at Briggs Avenue) in the Bronx. The event
is open to the public and admission is free. The library is
wheelchair accessible.
The three 2007 BRIO winners featured in Journey to the Stage
are Maxim Pakhomov (BRIO winner for instrumental music),
Jen Shyu (BRIO winner for music composition), and
Muhamadou Salieu Suso (BRIO winner for instrumental music).
Maxim Pakhomov has toured England, Scotland, Austria and
Estonia in both solo and chamber music concerts. He is a
founding member of The Bronx Chamber Players and principal
pianist of the Bronx Opera Company. His solo performances
with the Orchestra of the Bronx include piano concertos by
Tschaikowsky, Saint-Saens, Brahams and Beethoven.
Born in Illinois, from parents of East Timor and Taiwan, Jen
Shyu is a multi-disciplinary performer/composer touring
internationally with saxophonist/visionary Steve Coleman since
2003. She performs on his latest albums (Luciddarium &
Weaving Symbolics). She produced her debut album “For
Now” (2002) and is currently developing her “Jade Tongue”
project.
Muhamadou Salieu Suso was born into a family of traditional
Gambian musicians, historians, and storytellers that extends
nearly one thousand years. He was trained to play the 21-
stringed Kora (West African harp) by his father, renowned
Kora player Alhaji Musa Makang Suso, beginning at age eight.
He is a descendant of JaliMady Wulayn Suso, inventor of the
Kora instrument.
For over 45 years, the Bronx Council on the Arts, the borough’
s officially designated cultural agency, has provided quality
cultural services and arts programs to the Bronx’s multi-
cultural constituency, both encouraging and increasing the
public’s awareness and participation in the arts, while nurturing
the development of artists and arts and cultural organizations.
BCA’s BRIO program provides support for artistic development
of individuals creating works of literary, media, performing, and
visual arts in the Bronx. A total of 25 BRIO grants of $3,000
each are awarded annually to individual artists residing in the
Bronx. An important and integral component of BRIO is ACE
(Artists for Community Enrichment), which requires that each
awardee presents a one-time public service activity within the
one-year period of the award. This initiative was created to
provide artists with additional visibility.

Journey to the Stage event, or for information about other BCA
