| Bronx Week 2007 Takes Center Stage At Utopia's Paradise Theater Press Release June 2007 Bronx Borough President Adolfo Carrion, Jr. welcomes Bronx born Oscar nominated actress, Cathy Moriarty-Gentile (Raging Bull, Spielberg’s Casper, Analyze That, Soapdish, etc.) and Financier- Developer husband, Joseph Gentile as the owners of Utopia Studios, Ltd., who will host family oriented television shows, concerts and major events at Utopia’s Paradise Theater. Utopia’s Paradise Theater, formerly known as Loews Paradise Theater is a 3700 seat + majestic landmark theater and is operated and presented by the Gentile’s Arts and Entertainment Event Holding Company. Bronx Borough President Adolfo Carrion, Jr., will unveil the plans for Bronx Week 2007 at the borough's most famous theater and stage venue, Utopia’s Paradise Theater. Joining him are one of the borough's newest and most glamorous entrepreneurs, actress Cathy Moriarty-Gentile, Chairwoman of the family oriented studio, Utopia Studio’s and husband, Joseph Gentile, President of Utopia's Paradise Theater. The Bronx Ball, a highlight of events planned across the borough to celebrate Bronx Week, will take place at the storied, landmark theater, which first opened in 1929, closed in 1994 was recently restored to its original splendor suited for a television sound stage and reopened in April 2007 as Utopia’s Paradise Theater and Utopia’s Paradise Studio’s respectively. The Ball, a fundraiser for The Bronx Tourism Council is to be held at the theater on Saturday, June 23rd, is a welcome home party for individuals being inducted to the Bronx Walk of Fame the following morning by BP Carrion. Cathy Moriarty-Gentile was herself inducted to the Bronx Walk of Fame in 2002. This year, she will help lead the tribute to the 2007 inductees. "I'm delighted to welcome Cathy and Joe back to the Bronx, this time as investors in our community," said BP Carrion of the couple, whose show business connections will help pave the way for major television productions planned at the architectural treasure. "Their experience in the entertainment industry, their business savvy and their genuine love of the Bronx and this unique site are an unbeatable combination that will ensure success for Utopia's Paradise. I believe we will finally see this very special theater live up to its full potential." In the two months since the Gentiles have been at the helm of the Paradise, the venue has been the site for FOX Television's Brittany Spears special, ESPN's Super Welterweight Title Match, a Beyonce's music video, and artists like Chris Brown, Ne-Yo, Bow-Wow, Tyrese and others have appeared live in concert. "It was Adolfo Carrion's personal vision and involvement that convinced us, our friends in the arts and entertainment world and Wall Street that the Bronx is the ideal location for the kind of family-oriented next generation television studio we have planned here," said Joseph Gentile, President of Utopia's Paradise Theater. Utopia has plans for a women's daytime talk show entitled "TEA WITH YOU”, a celebrity food show; a home shopping production and a Sunday morning "KIDS-O- RAMA" program scheduled for this fall. Starting in August, Sundays will be kids day at Utopia’s Paradise Theater. TV Producers will be hosting kid’s shows and selecting kid’s from the audience and auditions for future television productions. Shows shall be in English and Spanish. "We're looking for the next stars to come out of the Bronx with auditions, rehearsals, music concerts as well as grassroots community events," said Cathy Moriarty-Gentile, Chairwoman of Utopia Studios Ltd. "From the Bronx to back west in Hollywood, everybody is talking about filming television on the Grand Concourse at Utopia's Paradise Theater. The Paradise is making history again." Some of that Hollywood magic will be on display at the Bronx Ball, when Borough President Carrion leads a tribute to this year's Bronx Walk of Fame inductees: actress Doris Roberts from "Everybody Loves Raymond"; doo-wop pioneer Dion DiMucci of Dion & The Belmonts; Improv Comedy Club Founder Budd Friedman; and legendary singer Luther Vandross, whose family will be in town to accept his posthumous induction to the Bronx Walk of Fame. To celebrate the Walk of Fame's 10th anniversary, past inductees will also be on the red carpet, including Robert Klein, Danny Aiello, Burt Young, Rita Moreno and John Patrick Shanley, some of the famous Bronxites making a return. "It will be my pleasure to induct this year's amazing honorees to the Bronx Walk of Fame the morning of Sunday, June 24th, when each of them will receive their own street sign on the Grand Concourse." That ceremony is at 10:30 at the Grand Concourse & E. 161st Street. It is followed by the Bronx Week Parade, Food & Art Festival and Concert at Mosholu Parkway which will wrap up the ten-day Bronx Week celebration, sponsored primarily by Health Plus and Montefiore Medical Center. The Gentiles will also announce that one of the major upcoming events at the Paradise Theater is "Peace, Unity & Hope Concert with Jose Feliciano, Bernie Williams Y Amigos". This is expected to be a star-studded concert featuring Yankee ballplayer and gifted guitarist and composer Bernie Williams at the start of his musical career. "This concert is already generating excitement internationally," said Ray Negron, Special Assistant to George M. Steinbrenner III and author and playwright of "The Boy of Steel", a popular children's book set in Yankee Stadium. The short play will feature former Yankee, Darryl Strawberry and World Series hero, Jim Leyritz. The play will officially open the concert, including a special performance by several kids from Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club on August 18th. "This is the caliber of entertainment that will be possible in the Bronx now that Cathy and Joe have set the bar so high at Utopia's Paradise Theater."
