The Secret To Your Success
It's no secret that in order for businesses to survive in
competitive markets, a business plan must include
marketing, advertising, public relations, and one thing that
most small and medium size business owners tend to omit -
political consulting. There are thousands of consultants
earning a living as Public Relations Advisors. Large and
small firms all need out of the box solutions that P.R. firms
and independents can offer. Sometimes business owners
are unable to see the forest from the trees. Therefore the
expert eyes of a consultant, trained to analyze deficiencies
and omissions, can add efficiency and an improved cash
flow from the aforementioned missing business elements.
Small business owners simply don't have the discretionary
cash flow to spend on paid consultancy. Advertising sales
representatives from dozens of print publications,
community newspapers, envelope mailers, and even the
Daily News are all vying for a piece of the small business
dollar. The worst part though is that these reps all try to stick
their hands deep in the shallow pockets of the small
business owners and pull out as much money as they can
without regard to the efficacy of the advertisement
campaign. The owner of a local restaurant recently told me
he spent $6,000.00 one month on print ad campaigns, a
mailing and cable. Independently owned car dealerships
spend in excess of $20,000.00 per month on print, and
thousands more on cable and other methodologies. Is
anyone measuring results?
National and regional companies use advertising agencies,
which fall under the category of consultancy, to present a
structured and measurable campaign. Since small business
owners do not have millions of dollars to utilize these expert
"Madison Avenue" types, they rely on a staff member to
make critical spending decisions. Often that staff member is
a sales manager who may be adept at managing a sales
team, but not versatile enough to know all of the nuisances
of advertising. Even the small independent car dealerships
who spend tens of thousands of dollars monthly on
advertising can not produce consistent escalating results.
Imagine if you will, a small retail business on the avenue
struggling to pay the rent and meet other financial
commitments. They if anyone, need a return on advertising
dollars. They if anyone, need a small business advocate.
Business Advocacy versus Advertising Rip Offs
I once had a sales rep from a local publication (which shall
remain nameless) tell me that it isn't fair for me to advocate
for the small business owner. I was accused of "blocking"
their company's efforts to sell their services. In actuality,
what I did was to educate a brand new business owner with
an extremely limited cash reserve on how to better utilize
those minimal resources. I discussed the efficacy of smaller
print ads which point consumers to their website instead of
trying to cram too much into a larger more costly ad. I
explained that print is sold by the column inch which is
significantly more expensive than band width. I suggested
that instead of taking a full page print ad out once each
month, they spend less on smaller ads and publish weekly
pointing consumers to their website for more information
about their products and services. We discussed that once
local residents finish thumbing through the community news
paper, Penny Saver, or other printed matter, it is either lining
a bird cage, or put in the paper recycling bin and thrown out
with the trash. If you only advertise once per month, what
happens when that person is actually looking for you product
or service the rest of the month?
It just doesn't make sense to put all of your eggs in one
basket so to speak. It also dose not make sense to allow
every sales rep to sell you a bill of goods. What does make
sense however, is to design a sound ad campaign and stick
to it. I've cold called local business owners who just don't
have time to listen intently on the benefits of utilizing one
person or firm to recommend advertising solutions. The
reason is usually that they either don't have the time or
money. Isn't that funny... why? If they don't have the time to
deal with advertising which is a vital part of their business
success, then shouldn't they using an experienced
consultant who can help free up that time? They usually don't
have the money on hand because they simply over spent on
ineffective ad campaigns. There is however a solution... IBC
Solutions, a small business advocate interested in providing
economic solutions to complex business enigmas. Funny?
Advertising is not rocket science... but there is a science to
it! Why not schedule a no obligation meeting with an
Advertising Solutions Advocate, and lean how you can
maximize your return on your advertising dollars.
The next time you are pressured to meet some print
publication's deadline, think of the much needed time you will
free up for other more important aspects of your business
by utilizing a small business advocate for your marketing and
advertising solutions. There is a secret to your success...
but you won't find it in a print publication turning
yellow hanging on some homeowner's fence!

One thing all business have in common is that
they all exist within a local community. Retail
and service related businesses rely on the
local community to sustain and expand their
market base. Those businesses who are able to
effectively reach potential customers within the
local community have the best chance at
achieving long term economic growth.
Not every business can afford to sponsor
NASCAR, or advertise on the YES Network.
However, most businesses can afford
$0.50 per day
to link their business to a solution that can
deliver the aforementioned in a cooperative
manner. Cooperative advertising allows IBC
Solutions to place your ad on the same page
with other businesses who are looking for the
customers. We take great care not to place
your business on the same page containing
competitors. On the contrary, your local
business may be positioned next to a national
or regional company's banner ad that tends to
enhance your appearance on line. The use of
community news on line to attract consumers
within your local community is the perfect way
to put your business in front of the customers
in need of your goods or services.
