The Paintball Zodiac
I put together (12) basic facts about paintball that will be helpful to
bring you up to running speed on the sport. The information below
was taken from industry support sites, and scratches the surface
on this exciting sport which is taking the world by storm. I'm not the
exert on the subject, but after compiling this list, I'm ready to find a
team:

  1. Paintball is a game played by many players or teams. The
most common is teams of 3, 5, or 10 people.
  2. Paintball is played on fields, back yards, or indoor arenas.
  3. There are many paintball tournaments going on all the time.
  4. Paintball is recognized as one of the world's most exciting
    outdoor/indoor participation sports.
  5. Paintball has three different classes: Rookie, Novice, and
    Armature (pro).
  6. Paintball is played all over the world.
  7. Paintball is a sport where women and men compete equally.
  8. There are many different types of paintball games you can
    play.
  9. The most common is called capture the flag. A referee puts
a flag on a pole or some where in the field  The ref yells Lets
Play... and everyone tries to capture the flag without getting
hit. When a player gets hit then they have to yell "I'm HIT!"
They raise their gun and walk off the field.
  10. Another type of game you can play is elimination where play
continues until one entire team is eliminated.
  11. A third way to play paintball is a way called speedball  where
wooden barriers are set up on a grass field about half the
size of a football field. The object is to get the flag on the
other side, and run back to your side.
  12. One other way to play paintball is through  “Scenario
Games” in which the players dress up with a theme, and
have to find a person or people. For example everyone but
one person is dressed up as FBI agents and have to go
hunt down and shoot a terrorist. This type is only limited to
    your imagination.

Tournaments
Some of the popular paintball tournaments are:
  1. ZAP Skyball
  2. Spyder Cup
  3. Pam AM Circuit

Paintball Leagues

The APL (American Paintball League) from what I've read,
apprears to be th most professional in the paintball industry.
Another league is the NPPL (National Professional Paintball
League). These two paintball leagues certainly seem to mirror how
our baseball and football leagues are set up. Although they have a
different set of rules I wonder how long before we see a World
Series or Super Bowl of Paintball? What about Paintball in the
Olympics someday?

I'm really excited after meeting Team BPS on the street. The
enthusiasm these three guys have for the sport is uncanny. Now
that I have been introduced to the sport through research, my next
step is to get in shape and compete. As the publisher of online
news services, I am making a commitment to a Paintball Forum
with emphasis on Safety Issues. To that end, I am happy to have
the support of Team BPS in as much as
Mr. Hector Farrulla has
agreed to be the first contributor to the Bronx News, Westchester
News, Soho New and Miami News services.

Coming Soon
Visit any one of the online news sites and click on the link to
Hector's column, or go directly to
www.ibcsolutions.net where you
can access the forum. I am a firm believer that safety is first and
foremost in all endeavors. I recently submitted a proposal to my
local congressman advocating safety in the construction industry.
The bill is called CSIT and was very well received by Region II
OSHA officers who indicated to me that even in the highly evolved
construction trades, you just can't get enough safety. That is why
my emphasis is and always will be on "Safety First". I hope to
develop a relationship with paintball enthusiasts over the next few
months that may lead to some interesting local developments.
To learn more about CSIT, click on the Public Appeal link in the left margin
and support the ANDROID Foundation with your readership.
