What Did He Say?

The words that paintballers use PT.1

Article heading

If you listen closely, in any paintball store or field, you will hear that
players have their own language and terminology. Paintball slang
is part of the game so I took this time to explain some of these
words and phrases, and what they mean.

1. To BUNKER someone or to get BUNKERED in a game mean,
you were pinned behind a bunker. An opponent pins you down
with fire, runs by you, and shoots you a few times; or if you were
facing the opposite direction, an opponent runs by you
unexpectedly and shoots you out the game. This is the "slam
dunk" move of paintball. This move must be executed with speed
and accuracy, and runs the risk that your opponent will shoot you
out as well.
2. BOUNCE - This word has 2 meanings:1.The first is when a
paintball hits someone, but doesn't break. Obviously, this means
that the paintball bounced off the player. 2. Bounce is an electrical
reaction in a markers trigger system that causes extra shots to be
fired. Bounce can be altered and limited within it's settings.
Cheaters usually look for ways to make their markers "bounce"
extra shots without getting caught. Most tournaments will ban
markers that bounce extra shots, so honest players do their best
to eliminate bounce.

3. NOOB: A new player to the game, someone generally
inexperienced in paintball. Players sometimes take advantage of
their skills, and tend to bunker Noobs.

4.To OWN or POWN, sometimes spelled PWN, means to
aggressively beat, shoot, or win a match. If I play against a pro
team unprepared, I might get POWNED; or OWNED. There terms
are usually used to boast an aggressive victory such as: "Your
team just got OWNED".

It seems that paintball players have adopted their own language.
Its all a part of this unique sport and It's great that the they have
something to call their own. These words are generally used by
paintball players.

There are many more words to learn, so look out for part two of
this article. When someone says that they just bunkered some
noobs, and powned their whole team without their markers
bouncing, you will know exactly what they are talking about!
