Play Tight!
By Frank Potulin (Sept 18, 2006)

Tips On How To Avoid Hits

Speedball has developed a new breed of paintball player. Todays players
have mastered the art of snapshooting (quickly popping out from behind
cover, delivering a few accurate shots, then quickly popping back to
cover), and back players are laying down more paint than ever before,
thanks to today’s fast shooting electros . If you want to survive in the
game, you have to know how to play the bunkers on the field. Each one is
different, and have to be played differently. The object is to keep as much
of your body from being exposed as possible. Its not easy, and it will take
some practice before you become efficient in doing this. The team plans
on bringing you updates on different bunkers, and tips on playing them
but first, lets talk about concealment.

When popping out of any side of the bunker, always be sure to keep
elbows tucked in close to the body.(see photos) Also, keep your feet
tucked behind the bunker. Hits on the elbows, packs and shoes count and
will get you eliminated from the game. Team BPS incorporates drills that
helps keep players tight in their bunkers. We do 2 on 1, 3 on 1, and even
4 on 1 drills that force you to stay concealed or get hit. Bunker positioning
can make the difference on weather you stay in the game, or get shot out
early from it.

Team BPS practices diligently to hone their skills, and we always leave
room for improvement. We believe in the principle that if you train how you
play, you will play how you train. If you would like to attend a Team BPS
practice session, please contact me at stickemup45@aol.com
Pictured above: Team captain Frank Potulin is seen exposing too much of his body.
he leaves a large target for his opponents to hit. Below: Is the correct way of playing
this bunker. Frank hides his torso, tucks in his elbows and feet, creating a smaller
target to hit.
