Product Review: Planet Eclipse ‘06 XSV Ego
High End Performance With Total Satisfaction!

Planet Eclipse has been making top notch paintball gear for years. The
boys from England have built their company’s name by creating quality
upgrades and parts to make other manufacturers guns, especially
Autocockers, the best shooting paint guns around. In 2005, Planet Eclipse
decided to build their own creation from scratch, and the Ego was born.
Made with the now famous E1 electronic trigger frame, It has made its mark
in the sport as a serious contender. But like all brand new products, there
were a few technical issues that needed to be addressed. Eclipse took
their monster back to the drawing board, and the 06 Ego was released,
with a brand new design that has taken the paintball world by storm.

The Ego that is in review today is the XSV 06, created especially for world
champion paintball team, Sacramento XSV (excessive). This team has
dethroned long time reigning champs Dynasty, and has been the top team
to beat for the past 2 or three years. This model utilizes the Planet Eclipse
E2 frame, witch has a custom XSV Navigational Console, and is nicely
done with rubber finish on the console buttons, and emblazoned with the
teams custom logo. The liquid crystal display located in the rear of the
handle is illuminated with an attractive blue glow that adds to its appeal.
This screen tell you the rate of fire, maximum rate of fire, shots fired, balls
per second, modes, and more. The E2 frame has so many settings that
one must spend quality time with the manual, witch I must say is the best I
have seen to date. The manual teaches you every thing you need to know
about the gun, from assembly and disassembly, to lubrication of all moving
parts, and routine maintenance. The frame utilizes tt tolerance settings,
that can virtually eliminate all mechanical and electronic bounce from the
trigger. Different rate of fire modes like ramp, semi, full auto and training
are standard, eliminating the need for an after market upgrade board for
performance. The Ego utilizes electric break beam eyes to prevent paint
from being broken in the breach. Multiple eye settings enable you to turn
them on or off, witch is useful when setting the trigger adjustments. The
eyes are sensitive enough to recognize dark shell, and glossy shell
paintballs The 06' XSV has a extremely light trigger with four point settings:
magnet spring, travel, and trigger stop, making it totally customizable to
each user. The star frame and reg mount offers more room in the trigger
guard area, allowing for fast shooting for those with bulky gloves or just
plain fat fingers. The regulator utilizes a swivel type system that switches
the macroline from either side, making the it easy to hold. This is one of
the lightest, fastest, and easiest paint gun to shoot in the market today.
Many professional teams like the Bushwackers, Team Nexxus, and XSV,
and others all choose this gun because of its unbeatable performance.

The XSV 06 ego that is in review here is completely stock, and has been
outfitted with a Dye boom stick barrel, an Odyssey Halo Loader, and Dye
Throttle high pressure 4500 Pnut nitrous air system. Approximately 1200
shots can be fired from a 70/4500 psi tank. The anodizing on this marker is
superb, with no visible flaws or blemishes. This marker is extremely
compact, with a comfortable fit , The stock Eclipse Shaft 2 piece barrel is a
little large for my taste with a .693 bore, but more than acceptable. The
first thing that one notices when firing this marker is that it is slightly louder
than most, and there is a small amount of kick to it, But that does nothing
to stop the bucketloads of paint that this thing can fire once you get used
to it. This has to be one of the easiest markers to shoot extremely fast, and
any 10 year old with slow fingers can make this thing go 15 plus bps in a
jiffy. The Ego comes with a O.O.P.S air source adaptor, and my only
complaint about it is that the on-off knob can be unscrewed easily without
notice, and possibly lost. Other than that, this is one of the most complete
markers that money can buy. It is ultra easy to maintain, super lightweight,
very reliable, and oh, so sexy! There are color contrast kits available to
give your marker a custom look, but out of the box it is tournament ready
for the highest levels of play. Only the fastest loaders can be used with the
Ego for maximum performance, and the only real downside to owning this
gun is the amount of money you will spend on paint when shooting this
masterpiece. If money is no object, then shell out the $1400 on this marker
right away! You will be the envy of every player you come across on any
field.

For performance, ease of use, simple maintenance and just plain cool
factor, I rate this gun a 9.8 out of 10. Get one today!
