Paintball Safety: Wear Your Condoms!

A look At What May Be The Most Important Paintball Safety Product Ever
Made!!

Today's paintball markers are more electronically advanced than ever
before. Boards, switches and upgrades can have just about any marker
shoot over 25 balls per second. Triggers are activated with just the
slightest touch, and accidents can happen. Surely all of them were
accidental. Most paintball misfire accident don’t even happen on the field.
Between games, paintballers take off their masks, or leave them up high
on their heads while getting ready for the next match. When exiting a
playing field, it is mandatory that your marker have  a barrel condom over
the barrel. Barrel condoms are pouches that are put around the tip of the
barrel, then secured with an elastic band onto the marker which prevents
an accidental shot from hitting someone.

The days of the barrel plug are long gone. A barrel plug is a device that
was pushed into the front of the barrel to prevent misfires. The problem is
that todays markers can be set to a multiple burst mode, or fully auto. The
barrel plug is usually good for preventing just one good shot. Barrel
condoms are effective in being able to withstand multiple shots fired
through it. Necessity is the mother of invention.

There are dozens of manufacturers that produce these barrel condoms,
and they can be ordered in a variety of colors to match your gear. They
can even be custom printed with your team name, or whatever slogan you
prefer. I always keep a couple of these in my gear bag just in case I lose
one. It is important to make sure upon exiting a game field to always make
sure that your marker is turned to safety, and you put your  barrel condom
on. Sometimes in the heat of a great game we  become distracted and
forget to put on our condoms. Referees and paintball field staff are trained
to watch for this important safety concern and make sure we do so. When
you play, play safe and be sure to always wear your condoms...in bed,
and on the fields!
The barrel condom prevents misfires that can cause a serious injury. This
