Swinging into action the pair hunted down curators celebrating three decades of acquisitions, approximately l60 masterpieces acquired by the Metropolitan Museum of Art during outgoing director, Philippe de Montebello's. The wild range of artifacts and works demonstrate how the Montebello years significantly enhanced the Museum's rare encyclopedic collections. Oct. 24, 2008-Feb. 1, 2009. www.met.museum.org.
Digging deeper into two centuries of design especially for children they came right up to Wall Stories, an exhibit of children's wallpaper, pop-up books and comic books featuring such characters as Peter Rabbit, Cinderella, Winnie-the-Pooh, Peter Pan, Pinocchio, Mickey Mouse and much, much more. Safaring through the canyons of New York's cultural trappings Jungle Jane and her Tarzan roared through town and slinked over to see Monte looking for artifacts and antique treasures Jane and her Tarzan hunted down the Fine Art & Antique Dealers Fair, celebrating its 20th anniversary as the longest established Haughton International Fairs. There they found a superb selection of works of art from antiquity to the contemporary in sculpture, bronzes, arms and armor, silver objets de vertu, rare books and maritime artifacts to name a few. J loved Kentshire's gorgeous white l8th century bookcase with pagoda detail while T headed for the ancient clocks. Maison Gerard, J's favorite had a rare Leleu sideboard. Forgotten Prisoners: The Untold Story of American Prisoners During the Revolutionary War camps at Fraunces Tavern Museum.
