HOLIDAY RESPITES IN GOTHAM CITY

Never has Gotham City been so sparkling and never has Gotham City been so crowded with
visitors in our fair city. Holiday shoppers and Macys Thanksgiving Day parade groupies alike may
need to get out of the cold and take a respite in a warm quiet place. You can sleep on a couch,
while away the time in an atrium and if all else fails find refuge in a church.  Here's the scoop!!!

What would Thanksgiving Day be without Macys' annual parade? You know where to go, but if
there is snow take a front seat and watch the spectacular extravaganza on TV. Talk about a
place to unwind, take a trip to MOMA where "Pour Your Body Out," by Swiss artist Pipilotti Rist
invites you to take off your shoes and lie down on a gigantic circular aqua velvet sofa with red
pillows, or dance and sing around it freely. As you view a vivid panorama of moving images that
fill  he walls and ceiling with colorful imagery including gigantic tulips, juicy apples in a lush
meadow and other objects hear a musical background created by Anders Guggisberg. The
amazing exhibit immerses the viewer/listener into an experience of light, colors and sound. On
view till 2/2/09. www.moma.org.

Alice's Tea Cup, a whimsical tea room  near Bloomingdale's gives pause to refresh in the middle
of hectic window shopping. Each tea is made to order and brewed to perfection and the menu is
health conscious and delicious, rather hearty, too. A unique selection of fresh teas from exotic
places helps you to feel rejuvenated, relaxed and cared for. Little girls in angel wings, like
Christmas fairies, arrive for private birthday parties, held upstairs. (l56 East 64th St.)

Then if all else fails to tempt you, take a respite in St. Patrick's Cathedral, but do be quiet.
Nearby is the Onassis Center off Fifth & 51st St. Then there are atriums around Gotham City
where you can find a seat & even buy some eats and a cup of coffee. In midtown visit the Trump
atrium, at 56th & Madison, and across the street is the high tech Sony atrium at 55th & Madison.

So put your feet up when the spirit moves you and enjoy  the holidays. I'm off to MOMA to get
my place on the sofa and be carried away with dreams of sugar plum fairies dancing in
my head. Ta Ta, Darlinkas!!! Enjoy Thanksgiving!!! Please keep in touch
