Prancing over to the venerable Metropolitan Museum of Art the mysterious Horse cast his lot to see "French Sculpture from Renaissance to Revolution." The exhibit of over 110 sculptures from royal chateaux, including Versailles, proclaims the French genius for ancient bronzes, through the times of Louis's XIV, XV, and XVI. The cavalcade of masters in bronze casting offer views of statuettes, portrait busts and monuments to France's glory days. "Cast in Bronze" at the Met opens Feb. 24-May 24. In full gallop the elusive Horse pumped up his paces and arrived at the Metropolitan Opera to view the Wagner-inspired works by artist Anselm Kiefer at the Gallery Met. "From the Met to the Met: Kiefer and Wagner's "Ring" coincides with the revival of Otto Schenk's acclaimed production which beings its final run at the opera house on March 25. Kiefer's works are not meant to illustrate the opera, but rather "to indicate and confront the same themes, characters, and motives that Wagner adapted in the Ring Cycle." Soon the culture race was on so Horse cantered over to "Works on Paper," at the Park Avenue Armory @ 67th St. where international dealers give art on paper the spotlight bringing together their finest drawings, prints, watercolors, photography, architectural renderings, illustrated books, posters and an added dimension this time-sculpture. Then slowing down to an casual pace Horse sauntered over to historic Murray Hill, his old stomping grounds which in the old days was a sprawling farm, where legend has it that Mary Murray entertained the British officers as she and her pretty daughters served them tea and entertainments so that Washington's forces could escape the trap set for them during the American Revolution. All this and contemporary images commemorated in the exhibit "MURRAY HILL: 1750-2008, Images of the Historic Manhattan Neighborhood" at the Cuny Graduate Center, 365 Fifth Ave. @34th St, Exhibition Hallway, Feb. 27-Mar.25.
