NEW YORK LIONS' SOCIAL AGENDA

All the lions stood just boring. Here's the question their ignoring. Have you read the works of
Horse? "But, of course, the literary zoo answered in ones and twos. Horse? Of course!" cause
everybody knew they knew, but who? Did he paint, compose or write? Novelists discussed his
fame, while painters and musicians wondered "What's his game.  Here's the scoop!!!

Prancing over to the venerable Metropolitan Museum of Art the mysterious Horse cast his lot to
see "French Sculpture from Renaissance to Revolution." The exhibit of over 110 sculptures
from royal chateaux, including Versailles, proclaims the French genius for ancient bronzes,
through the times of Louis's XIV, XV, and XVI. The cavalcade of masters in bronze casting offer
views of statuettes, portrait busts and monuments to France's glory days. "Cast in Bronze" at the
Met opens Feb. 24-May 24. Advance tickets at 1-800.965.4827.
www.metmuseum.org.

In full gallop the elusive Horse pumped up his paces and arrived at the Metropolitan Opera to
view the Wagner-inspired works by artist Anselm Kiefer at the Gallery Met. "From the Met
to the Met: Kiefer and Wagner's "Ring" coincides with the revival of Otto Schenk's acclaimed
production which beings its final run at the opera house on March 25. Kiefer's works are not
meant to illustrate the opera, but rather "to indicate and confront the same themes, characters,
and motives that Wagner adapted in the Ring Cycle."  Gallery Met is open FREE to the public six
days a week: Mon-Fri 6pm through the last intermission, and Sundays from noon through the last
intermission. www.metopera.org/gallerymet.

Soon the culture race was on so Horse cantered over to "Works on Paper," at the Park Avenue
Armory @ 67th St. where international dealers give art on paper the spotlight bringing together
their finest drawings, prints, watercolors, photography, architectural renderings, illustrated books,
posters and an added dimension this time-sculpture. Hi Ho Silver!!!--Over 70 galleries from
around the world corralled under one roof. Opens Feb. 27-March 2. Fri/noon-8pm, Sat and
Sun/noon-7pm, and Mon/llam-5pm. Two day passes available for $30 includes a catalog.

Then slowing down to an casual pace Horse sauntered over to  historic Murray Hill, his old
stomping grounds which in the old days was a sprawling farm, where legend has it that Mary
Murray entertained the British officers as she and her pretty daughters served them tea and
entertainments so that Washington's forces could escape the trap set for them during the
American Revolution. All this and contemporary images commemorated in the exhibit "MURRAY
HILL: 1750-2008, Images of the Historic Manhattan Neighborhood" at the Cuny Graduate Center,
365 Fifth Ave. @34th St, Exhibition Hallway, Feb. 27-Mar.25. Hours: Mon-Sat/9am-6pm. FREE.
