NEW YORK CELEBRATES/MUCH ADO IN MARCH
If you want my opinion of the influence of women, "Nothing's been the same since women had
the vote, and honoring and celebrating women's got my vote. It really is divine I feel like a
hero-ine. Beauty's brief I say, while wisdom lasts forever. I'm so glad they love us for our brains
for what is charm without the gain? I have no cause to grovel, I ought to write a novel." Here's the
scoop!!!
Writing women back into history, "Women Taking the Lead to Save Our Planet" is the mantra
of Women's National History month, which honors women who have taken the lead in the
environmental or "green" movement. Top honors go to Rachel Carson, writer and activist, the
iconic founder of the contemporary environmental movement. She wrote the landmark book,
THE SILENT SPRING in the l962 about the poisonous pesticides killing wildlife and the
environment. Honors also go to scientists, environmentalists, philanthropists and community
leaders. You'll find inspired gifts, teaching resources, literature, posters and promo aides at:
www.nwhp.org.
CALLING ALL SINGERS to FREE interactive concert experiences at neighborhood venues

Legacy," curated by renowned soprano Jesse Norman at the community sing with gospel for

The Word's UP!!! It's READ ACROSS AMERCIA month. Organize a book swap with your kids
and their friends and get them excited about reading. Set an example and find a cozy corner and
curl up with a novel. Start your own adult book club and invite the ladies in for tea and
discussion. Read aloud and savor the printed word. Find your niche in romantic, author-specific
or mystery categories. You can see the latest family picks at www.familycircle.com/books or go to
the romantic writer's website: www.rwanyc.com, author-specific www.emilydickinson.org. or
