Dear Mr. Perretti,

In March, 2008, my Mother and I traveled from
Branson, Missouri to New York City for a series of
women's history events.  We stayed at the Marriott
in the Financial District.

On the first day of our trip, we waited in the lobby
of the hotel for our taxi to the Puck Building.  While
waiting, I overheard two ladies talking with the
concierge of the hotel.  They were trying to find
something special to do for the day.   They
frequently traveled to New York City and were
anxious for something new and different to do for
the day.  The concierge suggested a restaurant
and they were not too pleased because they wanted a special event for the day-not just a meal.

At the Puck Building, we met Polly Guerin at the tea "Women's Art-Women's Vision" where women
artists were being honored by The National Women's History Project.  I was attending the tea to
accept an award for the historical society I represent.  Polly was extremely helpful with suggestions
for my research of women's history in the New York City area.   Within minutes of meeting Polly,
she handed me a long list of possible contacts who could assist me with my research.   She also
gave me her business card and offered to assist me with further information that could be
beneficial in my long distance research studies of historical events in New York City.  That evening
there was a special art show and art exhibition at the Puck Building.  Polly knew many of the
organizers of the evening event.

The second day, my Mom and I attended a tea at the Pen & Brush Club and there was Polly
Guerin.  I was so pleased to see her again.  Many of the other attendees also appeared to be
pleased to see her and greeted her with familiarity.  She seemed to know so many of them.  Again,
Polly and I talked about my research projects and she mentioned more sources of historical
information.

Polly was also among the group of us that were transported to the Brooklyn Museum for a special
tour of women's art exhibits.  On the way to the museum, Polly had to give the driver instructions
on the best way to get to the museum.  We had limited time and she was able to quickly assist the
driver.  Thanks to Polly, we did make it to the museum in time for the scheduled private tour.

By the end of our visit, I felt like I truly had found a special friend in New York City.

Now, back in Branson, I regularly check Polly's column "Polly Talk from New York".  I recently told
her that she should let the hotels know about her column.  The concierge at the Marriott would
have made the two ladies trip extra special if the hotel had access to Polly's column.  In fact, the
ladies would be pleased with every future visit because they would know about the unusual, the
special, the unique and also the obvious and they would give all the credit to the concierge at the
Marriott!  Polly would be the Marriott's very special secret fact finder!   In fact, I would think New
Yorkers find Polly's column to be helpful and interesting.

Polly's column published on April 28, 2008 made we want to return to New York City.
Wow.....describing the view from the Roof Garden at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the
12-foot tall illuminating sculpture in Central Part were absolutely enticing.

What a wonderful city ......New York City.....and what a perfect person to describe all that it has to
offer!

ARTFUL VENTURES: ILLUMINATI SECRETS

Some girls I know would rather they were beautiful than clever, but
beauty's brief, I always say, while wisdom lasts forever. That's the
reason I respeck those who love me for my intelleck and not
because I'm a pretty painting on a museum wall or an exhibition they
install. Why my dear, that is why I'm so glad they love me for my brain.
It's much more satisfact'ry, I should say, so I will carry on in an
intellectual
way and join the Illuminati in this artful way. (A.P.Herbert) >

Thank you Susan K. Scott for the email about my favorite writer... Polly Guerin has
also won a spot in my heart, and she's... well, required reading in my house!
