Public Speakers Can Make Your
Event A Success
By Andrew Perretti

No event would be complete without someone to utter those
words of wisdom we all talk about at the water cooler, on the line
at the supermarket, or in the beauty salon. We commonly refer to
them as Motivational Speakers. A Motivational Speaker will
energize the audience putting on a show that will make you want
to go out there and tackle the world! A Public Speaker saying the
right words can make or break your organization's or company's
event. Professional Public Speakers can be the motivational type,
or simply an MC to introduce the guests at a public function.

Perhaps you are looking more for a Professional Trainer to give
tips and advice to employees at a Corporate Event, about how to
do their jobs more efficiently. Perhaps you need a Consultant
who can help you plan out what to say in your own rousing
speech. Consultants may also act as Coordinators or Planners
for your events. Whatever your needs, IBC Solutions can help.
We book local and National Professional Public Speakers for
Private and Public Functions. We can also arrange for actors,
sports personalities and former and current politicians to spice up
your event and make it a most memorable occasion.

What ever your budget is, IBC Solutions will work with your
organization or company to recommend and hire the perfect
Public Speaker, MC, or celebrity host to make your event the talk
of the town.

Background

A public speaker is one who makes speeches in public settings,
such as at parks or other public locations. A speaker may
address a large assembly of people or small gatherings. For
large assemblies, the speaker will usually speak with the aid of a
public address system or microphone and speaker.

Most of the time professional speakers are paid a fee, but many
speak for free. In the case of high profile personalities, the sum
can be extraordinary. For example, former President of the United
States Bill Clinton requires one million dollars for a speaking
engagement.

Many people list speaking in public as their greatest fear; it ranks
higher than the fear of death for many individuals. Clinically, this
fear is known as Glossophobia. For this reason, organizations
and companies often hire a professional to insure that their
annual banquet, fund raiser, or party doesn't fizzle out before the
crowd has a chance to get a few drinks under their belt and slip
into complacency.

An after dinner speaker is a person who makes a public speech
after a formal dinner. Normally it is meant to be reasonably
light-hearted and entertaining, even if there is a serious message
as well. The speaker may propose a toast or vote of thanks at the
end of the speech. In any event, the purpose remains the same,
to take the pressure off of the host or organization's president,
and appropriately place it on the shoulders and throat of a
seasoned professional. The purpose of public speaking can
range from simply transmitting information, to motivating people
to act, to simply telling a story. A good orator should be able to
change the emotions of their listener, not just inform them.
Combine this with good food, spirits and the proper setting and
you can rest assured that your event will flow rather nicely from
cocktails, through the main course, through dessert!

Public speaking is almost as ancient as speech itself. The first
textbook on the subject was written over 2400 years ago, and the
principles elaborated within it were drawn from the practices and
experience of orators in ancient Greece. These basic principles
have undergone modification as societies and cultures have
changed, yet remained surprisingly uniform.
