Coach Morgan Keynote Speaker for
Fordham

Hall of Fame coach Morgan Wootten will deliver
the keynote speech at a dinner that will benefit the
Fordham University basketball team.
The "Fordham University Men's Basketball Tip-Off
Dinner" will be held on Monday, November 3, at the
Roosevelt Hotel on Madison Avenue in Manhatn.
Wootten is expected to be joined by Fordham head
coach Dereck Whittenburg, as well as fellow
coaches and staff during the annual fundraising
benefit.
Wootten coached DeMartha High School for an
unprecedented five decades and is remembered as
the winningest coach in high school history; he has
sent more players to the National Basketball
Association (NBA) than any other coach.
Coach Wootten retired with a record of 1,274 -
192 and was inducted into the Basketball Hall of
Fame in October, 2000.
This year the Rams will honor former player
Michael Fitzgerald, a player from 1952 - 1965, and
a graduate of the Class of '65.'
Tickets for the benefit dinner are available at

"Crazy" Eddie Irizarry,
the Bronxchester
Boxing Club-based
featherweight, held at
the Roseland Ballroom
on Wednesday,
October 29.
Irizarry celebrated
Halloween early,
wearing a mask into the
ring, before he easily
stopped young
challenger Jose
Zamora, who was
making his pro debut,
in round two.
Irizarry improved to (4-0, 2 KO's.) In other action, Yonkers Police Sargent Bryant Pappas
improved to (7-0, 7 KO's) with a first round stoppage of Chris Morton of Little Rock, AK.
In other action Vinny Maddalone improved his record to (31-4, 22 KO's) with a second round
knock-out over Terrell Nelson. In the main event, "Mighty" Mike Arnaoutis (21-2-2, 10 KO's)
gave a dominating performance, earning him the unanimous decision over junior welterweight
