Westchester News.org Implements A
Master Coupon Program
By Andrew Perretti
Today small and medium size businesses can use
all the help they can get in the battle to win over
new customers and keep the regulars coming
back. It's a jungle out there! I know this for a fact
because as publisher, editor, and journalist of
online news services, I'm also wearing an executive
sales hat in order to support the programs of the
ANDROID Foundation.
Local business owners have to spend in order to
increase traffic to their shops, especially in areas
where the competition is fierce. NYC is chocked full
of print publications sticking their hands deep into
small business owners shallow pockets. As the
Executive Director of a worth wild not for profit
scholarship foundation, ANDROID, I'm finding this
out first hand. That's why I came up with the Master
Coupon program.
Today, nearly every savvy NYC business owner
has included the internet as part of their marketing
strategy. The few that have not, will do so in the
very near future. Using the internet to supplement
print advertising can save a small business owner
thousands of dollars each year. How? Most web
hosting packages can provide you with unlimited
bandwidth unlike local newspapers who sell ad
space by the column inch. As an experienced ad
sales representative, I have been advising
businesses to cut back on the size of their print
ads, and focus on using printed matter to drive
traffic to their website. This is a simple solution that
has been overlooked because we're actually
caught up in a generation that is still on the cusp of
a paradigm shift from the old ways to the new era
of internet technology.
Other expensive alternatives such as Val Pak, and
Money Mailer actually have the right idea at the
wrong prices! Advertising psychology 101 reveals
that people like discounts. Real discounts, not the
kind you see at the retail rack that shows an items
list price with 70% off. Everyone knows that the list
price has been bumped up 170% only to give the
illusion of a sale. I'm talking about buy one, get
second at half price, or Early Bird Specials with
FREE glass of wine with dinner, or 10% off you bill
on Tuesdays.
Consumers have too many choices. Hundreds of
businesses within a relatively condensed area
translates to hundreds of choices! Supporting your
website with a much smaller print ad driving
consumer to a printer friendly coupon discounting
your goods and services is the theory behind IBC
Solutions Master Coupon program. A small set up
fee gets your coupon online. Or, you can choose a
free press release in our online news services, a
web brochure to enhance your coupon, or discuss
other strategies with a solutions specialist whose
only purpose is to help you increase your customer
base at the lowest possible price! Why else would I
come up with this low cost program that allow you
to measure your results by recording the coupons
you receive.
Print publications frown on this type of promotion.
Why? Because it allows the business owner to
actually measure results. In addition to assisting
your company through low cost out of the box
solutions, IBC can help develop advertising
campaigns to rival Madison Avenue firms. Why?
Because IBC is the sole support for the ANDROID
Foundation, and is committed to it's Youth and
Senior program. Every dollar you spend with IBC
one way or another benefits the local community
though advocacy, public safety, internship, and
scholarship programs.
NYS residents donated 96 million dollars to political
candidates last year. Ranked number one in the
nation for direct political contributions, NYS
residents can not ignore the fact that self
supporting local foundations such as ANDROID do
exist. Imagine participating in a program that is fee
for service based that will actually benefit your
business, while helping a NPO grow! Click on this

YONKERS RACEWAY: PROFITABLE
VENTURE OR RISKY BUSINESS?
By Andrew Sanders
With a population just shy of 200,000, Yonkers is the
largest city in Westchester County. Its proximity to
downtown White Plains and New York City, has great
potential as a lucrative market for capital investment and
construction. As some of you may have seen already, the
Yonkers Raceway project, which takes the original “Empire
City” to new heights (literally), has finally been finished
over the last year. This $240 million project seeks to
expand the current harness horse-racing site where
Yonkers Avenue meets the State Thruway into one of the
largest entertainment facilities in the nation. The newly
established site is projected to house at least 5,500
electronic slot machines with the capacity for several
thousand more in hopes of becoming the third biggest
casino in the world. To illustrate the massive size of this
structure, a 5,000-car parking lot leads into an enormous
edifice with two interconnected rooms that jointly
showcase numerous restaurants, bars, entertainment
venues, gaming slots, and a food court.
The effects of this recent development on the local
economy and community of Yonkers are ambiguous at this
stage. Controversy exists as local citizens have expressed
concern in regards to increased traffic and noise, as well
as the ills associated with the attractiveness of gambling.
As a rebuttal, the human resources manager of the
Yonkers Raceway states that at least 30% of the total
target 1,800 employees will be recruited from the local
community and surrounding tows in efforts of the raceway
operating as one of the largest employers in the area.
Phillip Amicone, the Mayor of Yonkers, has noted that the
job creation will help maintain the city’s relatively low
unemployment rate. Additionally, the city of Yonkers will
receive 14 million in the current fiscal year. The mayor is
confident that the new raceway will increase overall travel
to and tourism spending in Yonkers and will be very well
received by the general public from the immediate areas
of Westchester County.
News sources indicate that the Yonkers raceway is
currently the most profitable casino in New York State,
operating with approximately 1,870 gaming machines. In
direct competition with the raceway’s gambling services
are those provided by Foxwoods resort and Mohegan Sun
in nearby Connecticut. Only time will tell if the raceway’s
owner, Timothy J. Rooney Sr., will realize the profits and
turnout that he expects over the next few years. For the
fans of horse-racing and betting out there, racing is slated
to start up again on November 3rd. For more information,

COMMERCIAL DEVELOPMENTS IN
WESTCHESTER COUNTY
By Andrew Sanders
Under the partnership SFC Yonkers L.L.C., formed by Cappelli
Enterprises Inc., Fidelco Realty Group, and Struever Bros. Eccles and
Rouse, $3 billion is being committed to development in Yonkers.
Roughly half of this monumental sum will be spent on an expansive
River Park Center and an adjoining section of roadways in Yonkers.
The 1.1 million square- foot project combining 950 apartments into
two, 2,500 foot tall towers will provide 465,000 square feet of retail
space, 475,000 square feet of offices, a hotel, and several
restaurants that line the Saw Mill River. Plans indicate that a 6,500
seat minor-league ballpark and a sixteen-screen Regal Cinemas
movie theatre will accompany the myriad other facilities.
