Years Serving the Bronx

A detailed analysis of Bronx merchants
discloses that only hand full  pet stores are
serving Bronx neighborhoods. One such
family owned and operated establishment
is Zoo-Rama, Inc. run by Harsha and
Pushpa Perera. The Pushpas originally
hailed from Bayside, but have made their
way to the Bronx where they specialize in
dogs, cats and fish which they sell out of
two stores at 2566 and 2571 East Tremont
Avenue.

Zoo-Rama Aquarium is chocked full of fish
and supplies and is manned by Harsha,
who used to be a commercial fish breeder
specializing in ornamental fish. His wife
Pushpa works along side of him insuring
hands on customer services. Customers
receive plenty of attention and the Pushpas
make sure that no one leaves with
unanswered questions. "It's important to
make sure that our customers feel that we
have made every effort to assist them while
at Zoo-Rama." says Harsha.

The pet store, which  a few doors down
from the aquarium, is a dog and cat lovers
dream. I was amazed at the way the
Pushpas care for and love these animals.
They are attentive to their needs, and
every dog and cat resides in a clean
disease free cage unlike some other stores
I have visited recently.
